Top 10 Blogs about China

Long overdue post, on what is my personal favorite 10 for blogs in English about China - business & daily life are mixed; I certainly missed some, anybody feel free to amend. (note : the order is random)

1. China Law Blog  : blog of a US Legal firm with offices in China. Covering all aspect of legal issues in China (there are many !), sometimes a bit too technical - but always enlightening. An authority in the "China blogs in English" sphere.

2. ChinaSmack : see also  here. The best and worse of China daily life, from funny pictures to disgusting videos. Made by English-speaking Chinese.

3. Shanghaiist :  describes itself simply as "a website about Shanghai, China". It is a mix-up of contributions from several authors, about daily life, events, news from the big City.

4. Aujourd'hui la Chine : for this one I am cheating a little, since it's in French -in my opinion the best online resource for informations about China, edited by an independent French news agency with offices in China.

5. China Challenges : high quality content on China macro-economics, from Brian Schwarz, a US writer/editor based in Shanghai.

6. China Sourcing Blog : interesting content covering all aspects of sourcing in China, from regulations, supply chain & logistics, quality control, to tradefairs. 'Sponsored' by a sourcing / investment firm, it also welcomes external contributors.

7. China Success Stories : more than a blog, a platform on business in China, with regular updates from external experts, from quality control to business practices or HR (and a dedicated part for Fun & Games !). Its singularity also relies on its Dutch origins.

8. Shenzhen Undercover : an American in Shenzhen, on economics, life, culture. Irregular updates, but always insightful (and I had to have a blog on Shenzhen in my list !)

9. Chief Asia Inspector : quality control in China, 'nuff said. Irregular updates - but an expert view on China quality issues. Disclaimer : I am professionally related to this blog.

10. ehr.. ZeLab ? (I know, self-linking is lame - but hey, it's my blog I do what I want).

France vs. Chine : qui s'en sortira le mieux ?

Google ne perd jamais le nord

Dans cette histoire d'agression dans un bus RATP (rapide récap pour les rares qui ne sont pas au courant : une vidéo fait surface cette semaine, montrant un jeune se faire agresser en Décembre dernier par d'autres dans un bus RATP, ce qui déclenche - bizarrement avec 3 mois de retard - une vague de polémiques nauséabondes; plus d'infos ici ou là) un point m'a amusé, c'est le cynisme / la performance technique / le degré de finesse marketing (rayer la mention inutile) de Google, puisque sur un des articles du Post.fr consacré à l'histoire, Adsense nous sort tout naturellement des pubs pour... des cours de self-défense et des lacrymos.

Google : don't be evil ? Really ?
